Balearics: 259 new firms, 49 dissolve in August
Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands register 259 new firms in August, while 49 dissolve. New company registrations fall 7.2% and dissolutions rise 14% compared with the same month a year earlier, according to figures released on Tuesday, 13 October, by Spain’s National Statistics Institute. Even so, it is the fourth-highest August total for new firms in the islands’ historical records.
Just over 116.45 million euros in capital is subscribed to set up the new firms. Of the 49 companies dissolved, 48 close voluntarily and one dissolves through a merger with other companies.
Capital increases at existing firms also fall. Just 33 companies raise their capital in August, down 31.2% from a year earlier. They subscribe 9.2 million euros, a drop of 78.9% from the previous August.
