Palma nursery strike: €300–€450 top-up unpaid
Palma, Mallorca: nursery staff are still waiting for a €300 to €450 pay supplement as MÉS per Palma backs a strike in education for children aged 0 to 3 on Tuesday, 6 October. The party says educators have not received the payment. It wants the People’s Party (PP) administrations at Palma City Council and in the Balearic regional government to keep their promises on working conditions.
According to MÉS, the PP pledged higher pay, two staff members in each classroom and more teaching materials at the start of 2026. The city government promised in January to launch a new tender to bring in those changes, but the party says the process remains stalled.
“The school year has already begun and the staff are still in exactly the same position,” said MÉS councillor Kika Coll. She called for a firm date to start the tender. MÉS also criticised the Balearic government over the delayed pay supplement, which educators say has yet to reach them.
