Mallorca unveils ONCE ticket honouring rural women
Mallorca hosts the unveiling of an ONCE lottery ticket honouring rural women: five million tickets carry the design on Thursday, 15 October, for International Day of Rural Women. The ticket is presented in Palma, Mallorca, on Tuesday, 13 October. Xisca Muñoz, president of the ONCE Territorial Council in the Balearic Islands, presents it alongside Pep Lluís Urraca, mayor of Santa Eugènia, Mallorca, and Raquel Herrezuelo, equality officer for the Pla de Mallorca association of municipalities.
The ticket highlights women who live and work in rural areas, many of them disabled. ONCE says their economic, social and cultural contributions help keep those areas populated and active. The ONCE Social Group employs more than 700 disabled women in rural areas and provides training to many more.
