Mallorca is under an orange rain warning on Monday, 19 October: heavy showers and thunderstorms could bring large amounts of rain in just a few hours. Very strong wind gusts are also likely on the island, according to Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Ibiza, Formentera and Menorca are under orange rain warnings too.

The weather system Adam is keeping conditions unsettled across the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain. The heaviest rain is expected during the first half of Monday, but Aemet says it cannot pinpoint exactly which areas will be hit hardest.

Valencia and Alicante face the highest-level red rain warning until 10am. Rain is expected to weaken there and across the Balearics later in the day, then shift towards Catalonia, where it could be heavy and persistent in the afternoon.
