Palma Palestine protest draws over 1,000 marchers
Mallorca: More than 1,000 people march through central Palma on Friday, 9 October, saying a ceasefire has not ended the violence against Palestinians. The protest starts at Plaza de España and ends at the Seu de Palma. Ciutadans per Palestina, Mallorca per Palestina and Global Sumud Flotilla de Baleares organise the march.
At the front, a banner reads: “The genocide continues, the struggle goes on.” Marchers also carry an 80-metre list of babies killed during the Israeli offensive.
The organisers call the ceasefire “false”. They want Spain and the European Union to cut ties with Israel and demand an end to arms sales and military links. The Palma march is part of a wider series of protests called in cities across Spain.
