Palma airport: summer departures up 155.4% in bookings
At Palma airport on Mallorca, Kiwi.com’s completed bookings show 155.4% more departures between 1 June and 31 August 2026 than a year earlier. The rise is bigger at Eivissa airport, at 251.7%, and Menorca airport, at 197%. These are figures from one travel platform, not a count of everyone flying from the islands.
Across Spain, the number of Spanish nationals departing from the country’s airports in Kiwi.com’s data rose 108.7% over the same summer period. Bookings increased by 119.5%. Madrid and Barcelona remained the main departure points for Spanish travellers, accounting for 25.4% and 18.9% of passengers in the platform’s summer figures.
The nationwide rise continued into early autumn, but at a slower pace. From 1 September to 12 October, Kiwi.com recorded 40.6% more Spanish travellers departing than in the same period of 2025. It gives no separate figure for Palma during those weeks, so its summer surge cannot be taken as a measure of what happened there next.
