On Saturday at 19.00, a human chain against mass tourism will link Palma, Mallorca’s Plaça d’Espanya with the Consolat de Mar. Activist Madò Farta called the action with backing from Terraferida and the GOB.

Organisers are asking participants to bring a chair, a pen and a green, red or white T-shirt — the colours of the siurells. The chairs are meant to reclaim the custom of sitting outside in the street in the evening. Books, crochet work and games are also welcome.

Volunteers will hand out sheets for people to write down the island model they want. They will then collect the papers and take them to the Consolat de Mar, the Balearic Government’s headquarters.

The organisers say the human chain is the protest itself. No gatherings are planned outside the government headquarters before or after the action.
