Palma home raid: three held after family tied up
Three men have been arrested in Palma after a family was tied up and threatened at gunpoint during a home raid near Son Puig and Son Roqueta. The raid happened at about 14.30 last Friday, according to the Policía Nacional. Officers arrested the suspects the following Tuesday and say their investigation remains open.
The men allegedly entered the house armed with pistols and encountered the homeowners’ daughters. When the young women shouted, one attacker grabbed one of them by the neck and pointed a gun at her, police said.
Her parents came to find their daughters and faced the three armed men. The family were repeatedly threatened with death, with the attackers warning them to get on the floor and not move.
Cash and ring taken from hidden safe
One of the men forced the homeowner and the rest of the family into a room, where they were bound. The attackers demanded money, and the homeowner handed over the cash in the room.
An attacker then went straight to a hidden safe in another room. The men took further cash and a ring before leaving the house. The victims told investigators that the group wore work clothes, construction helmets and sunglasses.
Former worker knew where safe was
Police found that the men had travelled to the house in a company van without the firm’s knowledge or permission. Officers identified the three suspects as well as other people believed to be involved.
One of those under investigation had previously worked at the house and knew where the safe was hidden, police said. Investigators have ruled out any involvement by a domestic worker and say further arrests have not been ruled out.
