Palma police arrest two minors over park assault

Spain’s National Police have arrested two minors in Palma, Mallorca, over the alleged assault of a father who asked teenagers to return a football taken from his children. The incident occurred at Wifi Park in Palma in early June, police said on 24 August.

The man had been playing football with his two children when four teenagers approached and took their ball, according to the police account. After the father asked for it back, the group allegedly became aggressive.

Police said one teenager struck the man near the eye and that at least two then repeatedly hit him in the side, ribs and neck. A woman helped the injured man while other people alerted emergency services and the National Police. The four teenagers left the park.

The man received initial medical attention and was taken to hospital, where he was admitted with injuries including facial trauma and a fractured eye socket.

The National Police’s Homicide Group led the investigation to identify those suspected of causing the injuries. Following several enquiries, officers identified the teenagers and arrested two minors.
