Athletics is in line for 53,800 euros and canoeing for 53,500 euros. The ministry says the Palma centre has the highest proposed funding per programme among Spanish centres covering at least three sports. A specialist archery training centre in Eivissa, Ibiza, is also included, bringing the proposed total for the two Balearic centres to 425,300 euros.

The equipment money would update materials used across all eight sports in Palma. The centre’s athletics programme scored 64.9 points for support with performance and health, placing it third among 60 state sports training programmes assessed.
