Palma, Mallorca, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife, have a new twinning agreement: business groups are now looking for ways to work together after Thursday’s signing. The Confederation of Balearic Business Associations (CAEB) and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE) Tenerife have discussed investment, innovation and energy projects, CAEB said on 9 October.

CAEB president Carmen Planas said the Balearic and Canary Islands share challenges, including air connections, travel around cities, demographic change amid migration pressure and changes in tourism. She wants businesses in the two regions to build links while keeping economic growth compatible with residents’ wellbeing. CAEB did not name a specific joint project.
