Palma police hold suspect in €35,000 watch theft

Palma police have arrested a man suspected of taking a €35,000 watch from a tourist as he and his companion were about to enter their hotel in Palma, Mallorca, in late March. The Spanish National Police said on 3 September that a Citizen Assistance Group patrol found the suspect on Friday afternoon. Detectives say further arrests are possible.

Police say two men approached the tourist from behind and tried to hold his wrist before taking the high-end watch. They then ran through nearby streets.

The tourists reported the theft, prompting the Spanish National Police's Robbery Squad to investigate. After a series of enquiries, officers identified one alleged robber and issued an order to find and arrest him. The investigation remains open.
