Formentera rescue brings 17 migrants to safety

Seventeen migrants were brought to safety from a boat south of Formentera on Saturday. The rescue happened at about 16.40, two miles from the southern Pitiusa island, the Government Delegation said. The group was from the Maghreb.
The vessel is known in Spain as a patera, a boat carrying migrants. The Government Delegation reported the rescue on Saturday but released no further details about the boat or what followed the operation.
