Mallorca pharmacy transport plan voted down in Santanyí

In Santanyí, Mallorca, two villages have no pharmacy: a plan for regular council-run trips to help people get medicines fails at Tuesday’s council meeting. Residents of Es Llombards and Cala Llombards must travel to other towns to buy them. The PP, PSIB and SUMA voted against the proposal put forward by Vox spokesman Jorge Pérez, according to a statement from Vox.

The plan was aimed at people with limited mobility. Pérez proposed that the council first check whether the service was feasible, then arrange regular trips in coordination with Social Services, the health centre and pharmacies in the municipality.

Pérez called the rejection incomprehensible. Older people and those with reduced mobility need to be able to get the medicines they need, he said, describing it as a matter of health and independence rather than ideology.
