Santa Eulària phone scam warning after council impersonation

Santa Eulària Council on Ibiza issued a warning on 24 August 2026 about a telephone scam in which callers pose as the local authority to obtain personal or banking information. The council said it does not request passwords, verification codes or bank card details over the phone.

Anyone who suspects a fraudulent call should end it and contact the council through its official channels. People who receive such calls can also notify the council by email, providing the caller’s number, the date and time, a description of what happened and any screenshots or other available evidence. The information will help the authority collate reports and better understand the suspected scam.

Those who have already shared banking details should contact their financial institution immediately and report the matter to the Civil Guard or the National Police.
