Playa de Palma fire: two residents treated after smoke inhalation
Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a residential building in Playa de Palma, Mallorca, on Saturday afternoon, 22 August. Emergency services evacuated five people from the building on Carrer de Trasimé, while several others took refuge on the roof to escape the flames and smoke.
Municipal and police sources said the fire began in an internal courtyard on the ground floor of the multi-storey property before spreading. A middle-aged woman and another resident received treatment from the SAMU 061 emergency medical service for mild smoke inhalation.
The fire was under control as Palma Fire Brigade continued extinguishing it. Those on the roof were expected to leave on foot once firefighters had finished, with initial reports indicating they were not in danger. Local Police and the National Police also attended the incident.
