Podemos is joining other left-wing parties in the Canary Islands for Spain’s 29 November general election: it will run alongside Nueva Canarias, Izquierda Unida and other parties. On Thursday, 15 October, Podemos candidate and member of the European Parliament Irene Montero announced the deal on X and said her party would seek agreements in more regions. The alliance will stand under the name “Unidad del pueblo canario”.

Podemos had already agreed on Monday to run with Esquerra Republicana in Catalonia. Its lead candidate, Gabriel Rufián, will also work with Montero elsewhere in Spain during the campaign. When Montero posted, a little over 24 hours remained for Podemos to reach a deal with Frente Amplio on running together.
