Mallorca’s bishop calls for prayers for Pope Leo XIV on Tuesday, 13 October, as the Pope undergoes surgery for a lung nodule. The operation took place at Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital. Bishop Sebastià Taltavull asks people in his diocese to pray for the Pope on their own, with their families and in their communities.

In a message issued on Tuesday, Taltavull asks them to entrust the operation and the Pope’s health to God and the protection of the Virgin Mary.

Pope Leo XIV announced the operation after the traditional Angelus prayer. He said doctors had found the nodule during a medical check-up and described it as at an early stage and well localised.
