Mallorca gets a free talk on medieval homes in Calvià: archaeologist Mikel Herrán, known online as PutoMikel, speaks at the Puig de sa Morisca archaeological park on Thursday 15 October. The talk starts at 19.00. Entry is free, but advance registration is required, Calvià Town Council says.

Herrán, who has more than 300,000 followers on Instagram and YouTube, will look at what homes can tell us about life in Al-Andalus. Their design, layout and use offer clues to the spread of Islam, gender roles and social change.

His talk opens a series on houses, objects and everyday life in medieval Mallorca. On Wednesday 21 October at 19.00, archaeologist Alejandro Ramos Benito will discuss rural homes and household objects around 1229. His research includes pottery and the Islamic settlement at sa Morisca.

Archaeologist José María Moreno Narganes closes the series on Thursday 29 October, also at 19.00, with a talk on textile production in Islamic Mallorca and the role of women in that work.
