Mallorca and Ibiza rain: 64 flights axed, 16 diverted
Heavy rain cancels 64 flights at Palma Airport on Mallorca and Ibiza Airport on Sunday, 18 October. It also diverts 16 flights from Ibiza. Airport operator Aena reports 37 cancellations in Palma and 27 in Ibiza, with numerous Palma flights delayed. The rain comes from the Dana Adam weather system.
Ibiza Airport stops twice
Ibiza Airport halts operations for safety reasons from 10.00 to 11.00. After a strong storm, crews pump water from several areas of the airfield, forcing a second halt from 11.15 to 12.15.
Storm disrupts airport access
The storm also causes problems inside Ibiza’s terminal and outside the airport. A fallen awning blocks access to the P1 car park for several hours, though the entrance is now open again. One of the express car park’s two access lanes is temporarily out of service; the other remains open.
