Playa de Palma: man accused of rape and filming attack
Mallorca’s Playa de Palma: police arrest a man accused of raping a woman in a nightlife venue’s toilet, filming the attack and sending the video to others. The alleged assault happened in the early hours of Saturday. Spanish National Police officers arrived to find the woman crying, the force said.
A friend translated for the woman. She told officers the man had tried to flirt with her, but she had made clear she did not want to have sex with him. When the woman went to the toilet, he followed. Security staff stopped him at the door, but he got inside when they were briefly distracted.
Police said the man forced the woman to have sex. She injured her knees while trying to get away and saw him record the attack and send the video to other people through a messaging app.
Once she opened the toilet door, security staff helped her, called police and kept the man there. Police arrested him on suspicion of rape. The woman went to hospital for treatment before making a formal complaint at police headquarters.
