All 55 places have gone and a waiting list has formed for Wednesday’s staged Rei Jaume landing route in Santa Ponça, Calvià, Mallorca. Calvià Town Hall says the tour marks the 797th anniversary of the historic landing. It starts at 18.30 outside the bus stop at Caló d'en Pellisser in Santa Ponça.

From Caló d'en Pellisser to Pedra Sagrada

Participants will travel by bus from the meeting point to the Desembarco Cross. The route then passes through the Puig de Sa Morisca Archaeological Park before ending at the Ermita de la Pedra Sagrada.

The chapel stands at the foot of Puig de sa Ginesta. It was built in 1929 to mark the seventh centenary of Mallorca’s conquest, as was the Desembarco Cross. Tradition places it where the first mass on land was held during the conquest, and says the stone inside was used as its altar.

Historian leads the story

Mallorcan historian and cultural communicator Gaspar Valero Martí will narrate the route. Qmiras Producciones is handling the staging and theatrical coordination, with Joan Pizà directing.

Carlos Magnusson, Camil Casanovas, José García, Marta Cuesta and Paula Pizà will portray the historical events.
