Mallorca rent renewals: Armengol targets Prohens

In Palma, Mallorca, Francina Armengol says tenants whose rental contracts are not renewed should think of Marga Prohens. The leader of the Balearic Socialist Party (PSIB) makes the remark on Thursday, 15 October 2026, as she presents her party’s candidates for Spain’s Congress of Deputies. If someone faces eviction, she says, they should think of the political right more broadly.

Armengol puts the difficulty of finding housing at the centre of her election pitch. She criticises the conservative People’s Party (PP) for blocking two decree laws, though she expects them to move forward through a parliamentary standing committee. She also draws a line between the Socialists and PP and Vox on pensions, public services and environmental protection.

Armengol heads the PSIB’s list for Congress, followed by Marc Pons and Milena Herrera. Eduard Soriano, Sara Alcaraz, Enric Mas, Azahara Peña and Xavi Colom complete it. The Socialists won three of the eight seats in 2023. Armengol wants to improve on that result and expects more people to vote this time.
