Mallorca links homes to records in 46 town registers
Mallorca’s 46 smaller municipalities now have clearer links between resident records, addresses and homes. The Consell de Mallorca, the island council, said on 5 October 2026 that it had completed a key phase of a digital update to municipal resident registers in places with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
The work checked existing entries, matched records and assigned home identification codes. An assessment found that 98.2% of the homes examined had the correct code. A valid cadastral street code was assigned to 86% of households.
The project cost 366,000 euros from European funds and involved the Fundació Universitat-Empresa de les Illes Balears. Files have been prepared for submission to Spain’s National Statistics Institute. Island councillor Pilar Amate said reliable registers help councils plan public services. The municipalities remain responsible for managing them.
