Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Schools on Mallorca have until 5 October to enter RetoTech, a technology programme asking pupils and teachers to tackle real needs around them. Each school must submit a registration form and a video of no more than five minutes setting out why it wants to take part and how it plans to use innovation and creativity to solve a real challenge.

Fundación Endesa opened the call on Thursday. The programme is open to primary and secondary schools in the Balearic Islands, as well as Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, Extremadura, the Canary Islands and Madrid.

Coding, robots and 3D printing

RetoTech centres on coding, robotics and 3D printing. Participating schools receive technology kits to begin work on their proposals, while teachers are offered blended training in technology entrepreneurship, robotics and coding.

Since its launch in 2016, the programme has involved more than 1,680 schools, over 70,700 pupils and more than 5,800 teachers, according to Fundación Endesa. More than 5,370 pupils from 127 schools in the Balearic Islands have taken part.

The foundation will publish the list of selected schools on its website on 13 October.

17 prizes for the strongest projects

Projects will be shown at eight festivals across the participating regions at the end of the 2026/2027 school year. Fundación Endesa will award 17 prizes in total.

Three projects will receive licences for Bitbloq technology-learning courses. A further 14 teacher prizes, chosen by teachers attending the festivals, each include a 3D printer and specialist training in design and 3D printing.

Judges will assess originality and creativity, practical use in meeting a real need, technical skill, design and artistic quality, and the use of artificial intelligence.
