Palma's s'Aigua Dolça pool opens for weekday swims
Palma, Mallorca: s'Aigua Dolça opens its pool on Thursday, 15 October, giving swimmers five evenings a week in the water. The municipal sports centre offers open swimming from Monday to Friday, 16.30 to 21.30. Both members and people buying a single ticket can use the pool, Palma City Council says.
Walking and exercise start too
The centre has also begun its first organised activities. A session of Activa't, a municipal exercise programme linked to the Santa Catalina health centre, took place on opening day. It aims to support healthy ageing, with sessions planned for Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30 to 11.30.
Nordic Walking Esport, a free walking-with-poles programme, also starts from the centre. It is open to people of different abilities. Its next session is on 23 October at 18.00, with six more planned across November and December. From 3 November, the centre is due to add B@les, a supervised exercise programme for adults.
More swimming and gym space to follow
The council is opening s'Aigua Dolça in three phases to adjust its activities to demand. The next phase will bring longer opening hours, swimming lessons for people over 15 and instructor-led activities. In the final phase, two gym rooms will open for members only.
The centre has a six-lane pool measuring 25 by 11 metres and a smaller learning pool measuring 3.30 by 11 metres. It also has changing rooms, a solarium and rooms for organised activities.
