Felanitx: 55-plus officers and private security

More than 55 police and Guardia Civil officers will be on duty in Felanitx, Mallorca, for Friday’s Sant Agustí celebrations. For the first time, the operation also includes ten private security staff. They will work under the Local Police inspector.

The force includes 30 Local Police officers from Felanitx and the neighbouring municipalities of Llucmajor, Campos, Porreres and Inca. More than 25 Guardia Civil officers complete the deployment.

Checks at routes into town

Local Police and Guardia Civil officers will monitor access to Felanitx town centre on Friday morning. From midday, more Guardia Civil staff and traffic officers from Palma will join them at several control points on roads into the municipality.

Felanitx Council has pointed people towards designated parking at Torrentó, at the entrance from Campos and across the Son Colom industrial estate.

Extra buses for the journey home

The Transport de les Illes Balears (TIB) will add outbound services to help people leave after the celebrations. The council has asked for departure frequencies to increase, but not services arriving in Felanitx.

It also recommends leaving in stages to avoid crowds and keep traffic moving safely. Mayor Catalina Soler urged people to celebrate Sant Agustí with “common sense” and respect for Felanitx’s neighbours, saying a party should bring enjoyment rather than “antisocial behaviour and rubbish”.
