Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, elects three senators on 29 November: Formentera chooses a senator of its own for the first time at the same general election. Ibiza and Menorca each elect one senator, while the Balearic Islands choose eight members of Spain’s lower house.
An amendment to Spain’s constitution, approved in April, makes Formentera’s vote possible. The seat allocations appear in the decree calling the election, published by Spain’s official gazette on 6 October.
Elsewhere, Madrid gains a lower-house seat, taking its total to 38. Cádiz loses one and will elect eight members.
