Shabama founder wins Balearic award for sea jewellery
In the Balearic Islands, Spain, Sabrina Barceló Manresa wins an award for Shabama, her sea-inspired jewellery brand. CaixaBank announces the prize for self-employed women on 8 October 2026. She is one of 11 regional winners now in the running for a national award.
Barceló studied business administration and management before working in communications and sales for fashion brands. She then spent more than five years on marketing, communications and environmental education projects at an aquarium and a foundation devoted to restoring the Mediterranean and protecting marine life.
Shabama takes its designs from the beauty and variety of marine life. Barceló hopes the project will also help children and young people learn about protecting the sea.
Five of the 11 regional winners will reach the national final. The overall winner will receive 6,000 euros for business and personal training. Barceló’s place in that final is still to be decided.
