Mallorca's 2027 shop calendar skips 26 December
On Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, shops can open on 10 Sundays and public holidays in 2027, but 26 December is not one of them. Employers’ groups, unions and public authorities agreed the calendar unanimously on Wednesday, 7 October. The decision came at a meeting of the Inter-island Trade Commission, according to the Balearic Ministry of Enterprise, Self-Employed Workers and Trade.
The 26 December opening was dropped because the day is regarded as a long-established traditional holiday across the Balearic Islands. Another December date takes its place, as employers’ groups requested.
Municipal councils can swap two of the authorised opening dates to accommodate local holidays. The dates with the most support as possible swaps were 17 January and 1 March.
