Marratxí sports tent opens to free training space
More training space is opening in Marratxí, Mallorca, on Tuesday. The new municipal sports tent in Son Macià-Nova Cabana is mainly for the town’s rhythmic and artistic gymnastics clubs.
Marratxí Council says the venue will expand the areas available for training, improve conditions for athletes and ease pressure on other municipal sports facilities.
The tent is named after Pep Pastor, a fencing master who recently died. The name honours his career and his links to sport and Marratxí.
Mayor Jaume Llompart and Sports Councillor Juan Antonio Estarellas will attend the opening. Relatives of Pastor, representatives of Gimnástica Rítmica Es Pont d'Inca and Club Gimnàstic Es Pla, and members of the municipal corporation are also expected.
