Mallorca: Palma police seize 3,040 street-sale items
Palma, Mallorca: police seize 3,040 items suspected of being intended for illegal street sales during checks from 5 to 8 October 2026. Palma Local Police say their tourism unit focuses on tourist and shopping areas in the city centre.
Football shirts and fake watches
On Monday, officers check Sant Miquel street, Cort square and the area around the cathedral. They seize 1,413 items, including 703 football shirts, 129 handbags and 408 magnets. Police also open four criminal investigations into suspected trademark counterfeiting.
On Tuesday, the checks extend to Plaça de la Reina and Parc de la Mar. Officers seize another 754 items, among them 398 sports shirts and 18 counterfeit luxury watches.
Rain gear and sunglasses
Wednesday’s checks cover Passeig del Born, the cathedral area, Plaça de la Reina and Sant Miquel. Officers remove 724 items from the street, including 381 raincoats and 343 umbrellas.
On Thursday, police seize another 149 items along the same pedestrian routes, including 102 sunglasses, 46 scarves and a cap. Across the four days, they record 18 administrative reports and open seven criminal investigations into suspected breaches of industrial property rights.
