Madrid, Spain: a general strike called for 11 November prompts organisers to move the first national travel agents’ congress from 12 to 17 November. The Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) is also moving the congress from the Palacio de Cibeles to the Hotel Meliá Castilla. The confederation’s gala dinner and tourism awards will also take place at the hotel on Tuesday 17 November. The programme and planned sponsorship activities remain unchanged.

Delegates are due to discuss changes to the package travel directive, air links and the use of artificial intelligence in travel agencies. The future of travel distribution, new traveller trends and social tourism in Spain are also on the agenda. The congress has the backing of the Community of Madrid and Madrid City Council.
