Mallorca police seize 198 suspected fakes in Playa de Palma
In Playa de Palma, Mallorca, police seize 198 suspected counterfeit items from a shop after a patrol spots them on display on the afternoon of 30 September. The shop is on Calle Cartago, where handbags and sportswear were among the goods for sale.
Palma Local Police say the haul includes 53 imitation handbags from luxury brands, 49 complete football kits and 66 football and basketball shirts. Officers asked the 61-year-old shop owner for proof that he had obtained the goods legally. He could provide neither paperwork nor a licence, so they confiscated the items.
Police are investigating the man but have not arrested him. He is awaiting a court summons.
