Palma, Mallorca, welcomes around 800 taekwondo athletes from about 100 teams on 17 October for the fifth Ciutat de Palma tournament at the Balearic velodrome.
Palma City Council said on Wednesday that clubs from across Spain will compete alongside regional teams from Andalusia, Murcia, Navarre and the Balearic Islands. Athletes from Belgium, Germany, Andorra and Norway are also expected.
At the tournament’s launch, Palma mayor Jaime Martínez congratulated athletes from the Balearic Sports Training Centre on their recent results at the Open Ciudad de Pamplona. The Balearic team won the junior and senior team titles at Navarra Arena, taking 19 medals: 11 gold, six silver and two bronze.
