Menorca tanker water: PP seeks source of 28,000m³

About 28,000 cubic metres of water reached Maó, Menorca, by tanker between May and July, according to reports cited by the PP. The party says those reports do not identify where the water came from. On 1 September, it renewed its demand for answers from Mayor Héctor Pons and Maó Town Hall.

The PP group first submitted questions to the governing team on 29 July. It asked how the municipality had been supplied, as well as seeking daily and monthly figures for wells, agreements and other arrangements.

According to the party, the reports for May, June and July record the tanker deliveries but leave out the source. PP spokesperson Virginia Victori said the continued lack of an answer after more than a month and several requests raised doubts that the mayor should clear up.

The party has now filed a fresh request with Pons and the municipal secretariat. It wants an immediate, clear and complete account of the origin of the tanker water.

It also asks the secretariat to formally record that its 29 July question has still not been answered. Victori said Pons must explain the lack of information and address concerns over the origin of the water and the legality of the water abstractions supplying it.
