Mallorca: 1% of teacher posts open as Balearics act

One per cent of teaching posts across the Balearics remain unfilled after Monday’s substitute-teacher allocations. The regional government will open an urgent procedure on Wednesday to fill them.
Education and Universities Minister Antoni Vera gave the update in Palma, Mallorca, after visiting CEIP Jaume I on 1 September. He said staffing across the islands currently stands at 99 per cent.
The remaining roles are difficult or very difficult to fill, Vera said. Most are in vocational training or in particular ESO and bachillerato subjects.
Vera said staffing at schools on Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera was almost stable, with teachers already at their schools.
