Mallorca Tirme contract faces audit call over returns
Mallorca’s Socialists want an independent audit of the Tirme concession after a Consell de Mallorca report judged its management unfavourable.
The call came in Palma on 28 August. Socialist spokeswoman Catalina Cladera said President Llorenç Galmés should ask the Sindicatura de Cuentas, an independent body, to carry out the review. The General Intervention report also warns of a serious impact on the administration, according to the party.
The Socialists say the report considers the concessionaire’s profitability excessive. They are demanding immediate measures to defend Mallorca’s general interest.
Cladera said the Sindicatura de Cuentas could examine whether the concession is being managed properly and whether Mallorca’s waste policy is being handled as it should be. She urged Galmés not to stop at announcing fresh studies, but to put the conclusions of the Consell’s own intervention report into effect.
The party says the warnings from the control body now require immediate decisions from the island government.
