In Calvià, Mallorca, the council wants more tourism services to join a quality scheme by 2027: a new panel has met for the first time to guide the plan. Calvià Town Council reported the meeting on 7 October 2026. Council and Balearic government representatives sit on the panel alongside tourism and business figures and the people managing the scheme.

The scheme is called the Integrated Spanish Tourism Quality System in Destinations, or Sicted. It aims to improve the services visitors receive in a consistent way. Spain’s State Secretariat for Tourism promotes it, with support from the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.

At the first meeting, the panel explained how Sicted works and the steps businesses and services must take to join. Hotel and business associations, tourism establishments, social organisations, universities and hospitality schools can also take part.

The council wants the panel to give businesses and community groups a regular way to raise Calvià’s needs and suggest improvements. It will review the scheme’s progress each year, consider projects and assess results. Its goal for 2027 is to bring more of Calvià’s tourism services into Sicted.
