Mallorca UIB academic year opens with Prohens in Palma
Mallorca's university opens its 2026-2027 academic year at midday on Friday, 4 September, with Marga Prohens speaking at the official ceremony in Palma. The event takes place in the Son Lledó building on the Universitat de les Illes Balears campus. Rector Jaume Carot will also deliver an opening address.
Prohens will be joined by Carot, Education and Universities Minister Antoni Vera, and Sebastià Massanet, director general for universities, research and higher arts education.
Before the ceremony, Carot will meet the media at 11.00. He will appear with Carlos Gómez, president of the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands, who will receive the UIB Gold Medal.
Dr Miquel Dyà will give the opening lecture.
