Ukraine National Flag Day event in Palma

The Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands will mark Ukraine National Flag Day and the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence in Palma, Mallorca, on Sunday 23 August. The gathering starts at 2pm in Plaça de Santa Eulària and is intended to bring together the islands’ Ukrainian community.

The programme includes cultural activities, while further displays are planned elsewhere in the Balearic Islands.

Exhibitions and bandura music in Palma

Visitors will be able to see an exhibition on Ukrainian sites included on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage List, alongside a display of traditional Ukrainian clothing.

Live music will be performed on the bandura, a traditional Ukrainian instrument.

Bellver Castle lighting and Eivissa projection

Castell de Bellver in Palma will be lit blue on Monday as part of the wider programme.

In Eivissa, Ukraine’s national symbols will be projected on to a screen beside the headquarters of the Island Council.
