Palma vehicle thefts: warning over signal beacons
Neighbourhood association Flipau amb Pere Garau warned on 25 August of a wave of vehicle break-ins in Pere Garau and across Palma, Mallorca, with signal beacons the main target. The group urged drivers to take extra care.
It said the thefts particularly affect working people who cannot afford a parking space. Motorists should keep belongings out of sight, leave the glove compartment empty and open, and record and retain their beacons’ geolocation numbers.
Incidents should be reported to the local police, the association said. It also advised against buying second-hand beacons, warning that purchasing a stolen item could constitute an offence involving stolen property.
The group called for increased police surveillance in Palma.
