Mallorca sends €350,000 for Venezuela earthquake aid

Mallorca is sending €350,000 to help people hit by the 24 June earthquakes in Venezuela. On 28 August 2026, the Balearic Government approved direct grants for four organisations, including Cáritas Diocesana de Mallorca. The money is intended for food, clean water, sanitation, healthcare, hygiene and shelter.

Help for families without safe homes

Cáritas Diocesana de Mallorca will receive €100,000 for a year-long scheme supporting 120 households — about 480 people — in the states of Falcón and Yaracuy. It will provide food, cash for basic needs, hygiene packs and water-treatment kits, alongside protection and early recovery measures.

Spanish Red Cross will receive another €100,000, mainly for work in Caracas, La Guaira and Greater Caracas. Its aid will focus on people who have lost their homes or cannot safely return, families with missing relatives and those staying in temporary accommodation. Basic supplies, shelter materials and hygiene packs are planned.

Water tanks, medicine and health support

Médicos del Mundo will use €100,000 to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene for around 5,000 people. The project includes water delivered by tanker lorries, ten storage tanks holding 2,000 litres each, repairs to damaged water points and hygiene and water-storage kits.

Farmacéuticos Solidarios receives the remaining €50,000 for a four-month health and logistics response. It will provide medicines and medical supplies, particularly for children, pregnant women, older people and those with chronic illnesses or disabilities. Vaccination and mental-health needs are also included.

The grants were approved through the Balearic Government’s direct-award procedure for emergencies and humanitarian needs.
