Balearics: two women at extreme risk in 4,423 cases

Two women in the Balearics are classed as being at extreme risk among 4,423 active cases of violence against women. The Interior Ministry recorded the figures on 31 August 2026 through VioGén, its system for monitoring such cases.

The system lists 3,558 cases as low risk, 801 as medium risk and 62 as high risk. It also includes 58 victims under 18. The largest age group is women aged 31 to 45, with 2,101 active cases.

Children face a risk in 66 cases

There are 2,089 cases in the Balearics involving victims with children under their care. In at least 66, the mother's abuser is considered a potential threat to those children.

Three of those cases are assessed as extreme risk, three as high risk and 63 as medium risk. The Interior Ministry says the indicators in such cases suggest the abuser's violence could spread to people close to the victim, especially children in her care.

705 cases flagged as especially significant

The ministry has also marked 705 cases involving children as especially significant. Two are at extreme risk, 60 at high risk and 643 at medium risk.

In these cases, the ministry says a combination of indicators significantly raises the likelihood of the victim facing very serious or lethal violence. Across Spain, VioGén records 106,549 active cases of violence against women.
