Mallorca’s island council faces a formal complaint after Vox spokesman Toni Gili calls the Socialists and Spain’s government “criminals” during Thursday’s sitting. The PSIB wants council president Llorenç Galmés to take action against him.

Gili makes the remark during a debate on setting up a commission to seek the return of the Bous de Costitx. PSIB spokeswoman Catalina Cladera asks Galmés to intervene, but he does not stop Gili’s speech. Galmés later asks Gili if he will withdraw his words. Gili stands by them, and the debate continues without any action being taken.

The PSIB says Galmés failed to protect those targeted by the accusation. It wants him to enforce the council’s rules, prevent similar remarks in future and apologise publicly to the Socialists and others targeted.
