Manacor, Mallorca: Vox councillor Esteban Sureda says former mayor Miquel Oliver threatened him after the two debated politics at a council meeting. Europa Press reported the allegation on 14 October 2026. Sureda has not said what Oliver allegedly said, and the date of the meeting is unclear.

Oliver is now a councillor in the governing team. Sureda says he will keep scrutinising its work despite the alleged threat and any pressure he may face. Political differences, he says, should be settled through argument, not personal threats.

Vox has also criticised Manacor’s new mayor, Ferran Montero. In a statement, the party says he voted against a motion calling for increased security in Ceuta and Melilla and did not attend a celebration of the Virgen del Pilar. Sureda says those actions do not fit Montero’s stated aim of being mayor for everyone in Manacor.
