Mallorca faces up to 70% chance of warmer autumn

Mallorca faces a 60–70% chance of a warmer-than-normal autumn, with warm spells expected to outnumber cold ones from September to November. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, issued the outlook on Wednesday for the Balearic Islands. It puts the chance of a colder-than-normal season at 10%.

The forecast describes the overall trend for the three-month meteorological autumn, rather than every day of it. Cold snaps can still happen, Aemet said, but they are expected to be less frequent than warmer periods.

Rainfall is less certain. Aemet gives the Balearic Islands a 40% chance of a wetter-than-normal autumn, compared with a 25% chance of a drier one. The agency warned that a single intense storm can bring as much rain as the average total for an entire season.
