Mallorca waste chief changes as Roig takes new role
Mallorca’s island council has a new waste chief on Thursday, 22 October: Bartolomé Salvà takes over from Margalida Isabel Roig, who moves to a senior role in the council’s Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports department. Both have taken up their posts, and their appointments have been published in the Balearic Islands’ official gazette.
Roig has led the council’s waste department since the start of the current legislature. A law graduate, she previously held finance and public service posts at Llucmajor town hall on Mallorca and at the island council.
Salvà has a tourism degree and, according to the council, spent more than 20 years in hotel management. He most recently worked on employment and local development for Campos town hall on Mallorca.
The department is led by the council’s second vice-president, Pedro Bestard. The council says the changes will help it continue its environmental and waste policies.
