Ibiza water gap leaves Sant Josep on 1986 planning rules
Sant Josep de sa Talaia on Ibiza is back under 1986 planning rules after its temporary rules expired in September, the local PSOE says. On Friday 9 October, the party blamed missing water and sewage paperwork and accused mayor Vicent Roig of leaving the municipality in planning uncertainty.
The temporary rules, known as Normas Provisionales de Planeamiento, needed initial approval. According to the PSOE, a June 2026 report by the General Directorate of Water Resources says the council had not answered requests concerning its sustainable water management plan and drought emergency plan. The party says the previous council administration filed both documents with the directorate in 2022.
The application also lacked confirmation from the sewage treatment authority that the treatment plant could handle all the wastewater produced, the PSOE says. According to the party, the directorate did not consider either the water supply or sewage treatment capacity guaranteed. Without the requested documents, it could not support initial approval. The deadline passed in September and the temporary rules lapsed.
The PSOE says planning must take account of available water and sewage treatment capacity. It has called on Roig to answer the outstanding requests and provide the missing documents.
