Palma Local Police officers reached the home first and gave the woman initial care. She had a stab wound to her abdomen. Paramedics then stabilised her and took her to hospital. Police arrested the man on suspicion of attempting to kill her.

The National Police’s Family and Women’s Support Unit is investigating what happened, including whether the attack was violence against a woman by her partner. Police and Balearic health service sources said the man was expected to appear before a judge that afternoon.
